Privacy policy

Effective 6 October 2026 · applies to the Colony Counter app for Android and iOS and the web version at cc.amphur.in.th

Summary

Colony Counter does not collect, send or sell any personal data. It has no account and no advertising. Counting runs on your device. The web version uses Google Analytics to count visits (see Internet below); the Android app has no analytics.

Camera and photos

The app uses the camera to photograph agar plates and to scan the QR codes on plate labels. You can also pick an existing photo. Photos are analysed on your device and saved only in the app's own storage (in the web version: in your browser's storage on your device). They are not uploaded anywhere.

Data you enter

Sample names, dilutions, notes, experiment details and counts are stored only on your device, in the same way.

Exporting and sharing

Files leave your device only when you choose to export or share them (CSV files, backups, annotated photos, label sheets, training data). You choose where they go, for example email or cloud storage; those services' own privacy policies then apply.

Internet

The Android app does not request internet access. Links on the About page (website, email, source code) open in your browser or email app. The web version is downloaded from cc.amphur.in.th; like any web server, it may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, time and requested page) for security and operation. These logs are not used to identify or track users.

The web version uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google receives technical information such as your IP address, browser, device type, approximate location (city or country) and the pages you open, and sets cookies to recognise repeat visits. Advertising features and Google signals are turned off. Your photos, counts and sample data are never sent to Google Analytics. You can block it with a browser setting or an add-on such as Google Analytics Opt-out; the app works the same. See how Google uses this data.

Deleting your data

Delete individual plates or samples in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all of its data. In the web version, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Make a backup first if you want to keep your results.

Children

The app is a tool for laboratory work and is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Questions: Pongsak Sarapukdee, sarapukdee@gmail.com. Source code: github.com/smposara/Colony-counter.
